This is another recipe that I came across on Facebook.  I copied it from the Pilsbury website at www.pilsbury.com.  This is basically how I make the stromboli that I posted earlier.  You could use any pizza toppings you like.  You could even make a cheeseburger version with ground beef and cheese.

Our family loves Cake Batter Flavored desserts.  I came across this recipe while looking for recipes to share here on my blog.  They look very yummy & easy to make.  The cake batter is safe to eat since it does not have any eggs in it.  You are basically eating cake batter covered with cake batter flavored white chocolate.

Easy Cake Batter Truffles
Recipe source: The Girl Who Ate Everything

1 ½ cups flour
1 cup yellow cake mix
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
3-4 Tablespoons milk
2 Tablespoons sprinkles
Truffle Coating:
16 ounces (8 squares) almond bark (or white candy melts)
4 Tablespoons yellow cake mix
Sprinkles
Beat together butter and sugar using an electric mixer until combined. Add cake mix, flour, salt, and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Add 3 Tablespoons of milk or more if needed to make a dough consistency. Mix in sprinkles by hand. Roll dough into one inch balls and place on a parchment or wax paper lined cookie sheet. Chill balls in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to firm up.

While dough balls are chilling, melt almond bark in the microwave in 30 second intervals until melted. Stir between intervals. Once melted, quickly stir in cake mix until incorporated completely. Using a fork, dip truffles into almond bark and shake of excess bark by tapping the bottom of the fork on the side of your bowl. Place truffle back on the cookie sheet and top with sprinkles. Repeat with remaining balls until finished.

Chill cake batter truffles in the refrigerator until serving. Makes around 24-30 truffles.

Have you ever tried to make a frozen coffee drink at home and the hot coffee melts all the ice?  I have, and its not good.  It makes the coffee all watered down and lukewarm.  I am going to try this version.  Sounds good and its low fat.  This recipe came from Cooking Channel's Drop 5 pounds with Good Housekeeping.  Looks good enough to drink.

INGREDIENTS
(4 servings)
  • 3 cups low-fat milk
  • 1/4 cup light chocolate syrup, such as Hershey's
  • 4 teaspoons instant espresso coffee powder
  • 8 ice cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

In a blender, combine the milk, chocolate syrup, espresso powder and ice. Blend until the mixture is smooth and frothy. Divide equally among 4 chilled glasses. Sprinkle with the cinnamon for garnish.

If you like cheese danish and cheesecake, this is a great recipe to try.  It is an easy recipe using crescent rolls, cream cheese, sugar, butter, vanilla and cinnamon.

I found that this recipe also freezes well.  Make a pan, cut into squares & freeze individually.  Store in a freezer storage bag.  In the morning take a square (or 2) out and microwave 1 minute or until warm.  Tastes like it just came out of the oven.

Breakfast Cheesecake

  • 2-8oz Philadelphia Cream cheese packages
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Topping:
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter

Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Butter 9X13 baking pan.
  • Cover bottom of pan with one entire package of crescent rolls (push together sections and roll out to make one piece)
  • Whip together cream cheese, vanilla and sugar. Pour on top of crescent rolls.
  • Cover cream cheese mixture with the other package of crescent rolls.
  • Melt butter and cover crescent roll.
  • Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and sprinkle over top.

My Mother-In Law makes a Breakfast Casserole for Breakfast on Christmas morning every year.  I saw this online and thought it would be an easier way to make the Breakfast Casserole.  It cooks overnight and is ready when you get up after Santa visits.

Crock Pot Breakfast Casserole

1 (26 oz) bag frozen hash browns
12 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
1 Tbsp ground mustard
1 (16 oz) package sausage (I prefer Neeses), cooked & drained
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (16 oz) bag shredded cheddar cheese

Spray the crock pot evenly with non-stick spray

Layer hash browns on the bottom of the crock pot

In a large bowl mix the eggs, milk  and salt & pepper

Layer cooked sausage over the hash browns.

Sprinkle in the ground mustard

Top with shredded cheese

Pour egg mixture over the hash browns, sausage and cheese.  Spread everything out even.

Cook on Low 6-8 hours

I love to make candy at Christmas time.  My boss made these this year and gave me the recipe.  I think they taste better than the peppermint patties you buy in the grocery store and they don't have the preservatives.

If you are making them for Christmas you could add red or green food coloring to the peppermint filling.  You could use any color food coloring to use them for entertaining.  It would be cute to use red or blue food coloring for pink and blue centers for a baby shower.

Peppermint Patties

1 (14 oz) can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 Tbsp peppermint extract
6 cups powdered sugar
food coloring (optional)
1 1/2 pounds chocolate flavored candy coating, melted

Line baking sheets with wax paper

Combine sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and food coloring in a large bowl.  Add 6 cups powdered sugar and beat with a hand mixer on low speed until smooth and well blended.

Sprinkle your work surface with powdered sugar & dump peppermint mixture out onto surface.

Knead the mixture lightly and form a smooth ball.  Pull off and shape mixture into 1 inch balls.  Place 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.  Flatten into a 1 1/2 inch patty.  Put the patties in the freezer until frozen.

Using 2 forks, dip each patty into warm chocolate.  Must move quickly so that the peppermint mixture does not melt.  Place chocolate covered peppermint patties onto wax paper covered baking sheets.  Let set until chocolate is set and firm.

Store covered at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

This is one of my favorite desserts.  Dessert made from a box of cake mix, butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla.  You can make this dessert with different flavors so that you have many different desserts.  Made in two layers this dessert is chewy and gooey.

Mix toffee bits into the cream cheese mixture for a Toffee Gooey Butter Cake. Mix in Chocolate Chips to make a Chocolate Chip Gooey Butter Cake.

Gooey Butter Cake

1st layer
1 box yellow cake mix
1 egg
1 stick butter, melted

2nd layer
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 stick butter, melted
1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Combine the ingredients for the 1st layer, cake mix, egg and butter, and mix well.  Spread the mixture into a layer in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the cream cheese until smooth.  Add other ingredients of the 2nd layer, eggs, vanilla and butter.  Beat until combined.  Add the powdered sugar and mix well.

Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake batter layer.  Bake 40-50 minutes or until golden brown.  The center should still be gooey.

Let cool and cut into squares for serving.
